So it's finally here. This is a neoprene patella tracking brace that attaches to most hard shell functional knee braces: Townsend, Don Joy, Bledsoe, Ossur, CTi, or Breg. Patients no longer have to choose between wearing their unloader knee brace or their patella stabilizer. They can now wear both at the same time.

That's exactly what Ben Polsky did. This determined father did his homework. He discovered that Townsend is the only manufacturer of functional knee braces that can build a true custom orthotic. You see the 14" knee brace that DJO accepted payment for was too big for Ben's daughter's petite frame. DJO could not offer a solution for this patient even after learning their brace didn't fit.
So instead of telling his daughter that she could no longer participate in gymnastics Ben looked for an alternative. Townsend built this small brace, 10.5" in length, to fit a small leg. Further, Townsend worked with the certified practitioners at BioDynamics in New York City. An ABC certified orthotist made sure Ben's daughter was properly cared for. This brace was not fit by a sales representative - like most DJO knee braces.

Dr. Trevor Birmingham an investigator at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic in Ontario studied 150 athletes returning to sports after reconstruction of their ACLs. The patients were divided into two groups. One group was provided with a rigid functional knee brace, the other group was provided with a neoprene sleeve.
"It is widely believed that the rigid support provided by a functional knee brace protects the graft and improves knee stability and function when the patient returns to sport after surgery and rehabilitation." Dr. Birmingham was quoted as saying. "Others believe that the additional support provided by a brace is not necessary.
The research team found no significant differences between the neoprene knee brace group, and the rigid functional knee brace groups at the one and two year follow up. So why not try a neoprene sleeve?
